Houston's Best Saber Training School
So, you bought your first saber. Have you ever wondered if there was a saber school nearby that taught you how to actually use one? Well, Space City Sabers is here. Located in the heart of Houston Texas, Space City Sabers offers saber training in Houston to get you educated on how to use your saber in a fun and educational setting.
All of those you meet here are big fans of our favorite franchise and we wanted to extend our involvement with our love for the movies by learning saber combat techniques similar to those that you see in the movies but applied to real life.
In addition to learning various sword fighting techniques using sabers, many of our members are also involved with various other cosplay groups around
Houston and across the State of Texas including the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion groups.
Our instructors are trained in many sword fighting techniques including Kendo Japanese Sword Fighting, Germanic Broadsword Fighting and Fencing. The classes are taught for 2 hours (6:00pm – 8:00pm) every other Saturday at the Sword to Sword Facility. Our classes are open to those who are 15 years old or older. Minors MUST be accompanied by a parent. The classroom setting will immerse you fully into saber combat. You will learn actual sword fighting techniques utilizing many saber combat forms that you will then practice and demonstrate with other students in our saber training academy class. The instructors will show you, step-by-step the various forms we practice. If you get hung up on a certain move, they are happy to assist you in correcting your form and continue getting better with your saber.
We strive to make the classes both educational and really fun for all who attend. You will meet other enthusiasts and share stories and love for the franchise as well as getting a chance to see some really awesome sabers from various saber builders from across the planet!
Space City Sabers Mission
The mission of the Space City Sabers club is to provide local fans with opportunities to meet other fans who live in and around Houston who share a love for swordplay (everything from choreography to martial art), cosplay (all kinds of fandom), and charity. Opportunities through the group may include (but are not be limited to) online activities, club meetings and gatherings with similar clubs in other cities, professional and amateur sword instruction, sword building or saber smithy, fan films, and expositions at conventions and parades. In addition, the Space City Sabers club performs at events to benefit the community and local charity organizations such as, but not limited to fundraisers, toy drives, food drives, conventions, and choreographed combat shows through the use of battle sabers like those found at www.ultrasabers.com.
